Nev (she/they) is a freelance musician based in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in trumpet performance, composition, and music education.

Nev actively performs with renowned groups such as Monday Evening Concerts, Wild Up, and Peninsula Symphony, and is a founding member of Diapason, a brass quartet dedicated to exploring original drone-based microtonal music. Her diverse performance history includes collaborations with and premiers of works by artists such as Sarah Davachi, George Lewis, Mattie Barbier, Trevor Treglia, Tim Feeney, and Sarah Hennies, as well as appearances at venues like LACMA and The Getty Center.

As an educator, Nev is committed to fostering creativity and technical excellence in her students. She serves on the faculty of the Kadima Conservatory of Music and provides section coaching and private instruction through institutions such as Claremont College and local youth orchestras.

Her artistic practice combines live improvisation and electronics, often utilizing Max MSP to process acoustic sound and create dynamic textures alternating between rich tonal harmony, dense clouds of noise, and sparse clicks, pops, and feedback. Drawing inspiration from collaborators and contemporaries, Nev’s music is both exploratory and deeply rooted in the traditions she reimagines.

She currently resides in Silverlake with her cat Lilac.
